Found in an old book titled “Mother's Day Poems”. Written by hand on the inside cover was the following poem by Grandma Emma Kurtz Meyers:15 In memory of Frances Elizabeth Meyers, who died on Mar. 18 - 1896 Thou art gone, beloved one Gone from us on earth below But we said “thy will be done” Twas hard to say, tis better so But oh! We know the happiness That thou today enjoy, The bliss, oh who can guess The love, without alloy Thy mortal body lies at rest In a grave not far away But the spirit mingles with the blest And shall though all the perfect day Elizabeth our first born child We would not call thee hence Altho at first were almost wild, But oh, the blissful recompence Of knowing that some bright day In heaven we shall meet again And sing together the heavenly lay How Jesus died for men. Elizabeth most sacred name to me Save Jesus, watch and wait Twill not be long, you see Twill we shall meet at heaven's gate Good bye, my beloved darling Be our guardian angel, dear And while above thou are warbling God will wipe away our tears Till in that glad and happy day Pappa, mamma sister all shall meet you there, Climbing up the bright and shining way, And golden crowns to wear (Mamma) | ||||||||||
