Came to America on 18th of September 1634 on the “Griffin” and settled in Cambridge, MA. A Colony Representative in 1636 and 1637.59 Nicholas came to America with five children, Elizabeth, Anna, Thomas, Samuel and Jonathan. He is listed in “Early New England Colonies” as a founder of the New England Colony and a signer of the first constitution of the Colony. His reasons for leaving England was that he would not conform to the Church of England and he fled because of the persecution of all non-conformants.53 He was a founder of Harvard College and was the Treasurer for as long as he lived.53 Son, Samuel was Treasurer of Harvard for 17 years.53 |
