Charles was a blacksmith (listed as a blacksmith and shop owner in 1920 Census47). Son, Joseph T., age 19, listed as working in his father’s blacksmith shop in 1920 Census47. He was also at one time, the marshall of Wichita Falls, TX. Charles was also a Church of Christ Minister (listed as Clergy, Christian Church in 1910 Census67). Charles started or helped start many churches (Church of Christ) In north Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Arizona. Charles built a church in Yuma on the corner of 1st Street and 16th Ave. His grandson, Charles N. Reese Jr. (Nicky), as a boy (9-10 years old or about 1942-1944), remembers helping Charles build the 40-50 seat church building in Yuma, AZ. Charles died just after preaching a sermon at a church (905 N. 9th St.) in Phoenix, Arizona. 32 66 He apparently just finished his sermon, walked back to his chair and died. Incorrectly listed as Charles Reece in 1880 Census.68 Listed as widowed in 1920 Census.47 |
