Misc. Notes |
Adam lived in Palatinate (Germany) and arrived at Philadelphia from Amsterdam 10-5-1737. He resided on a plantation of 315 acres on what is now the Strasburg Pike, about 5 miles south east of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He built a sandstone house in 1766 on Strasburg Pike, Lampeter Township, lancaster Co. PA. Adam conducted a tannery there. Sons John and Henry both served in the revolutionary war on the side of the colonists.7,8 A family Bible owned by Adam was printed in 1736 recorded many of the births and was last reported in the posession of Mrs. Amanda Eaby of Intercourse, PA.
Some sources (Ed Dieffenbaugh Meyers papers) indicated Adam’s wife to be Fronica Bare, but historical documents cannot show it to be true. The following are from E.D. Meyers notes: Adam Married Fraena (Fronica) Bare, daughter of John Bare and graddaughter of Martin Bare, a mennonite minister and early settler. |
