Misc. Notes |
Elaine, the oldest of five children, was given the responsibility of caring for her siblings, especially her sisters. She had a carefree childhood living in Washington State. Her happiest childhood memories were during the summer months spent in the virgin country of Kirkland, WA on Meyers Road, the homestead by her grandfather, Edgar Diffenbaugh Meyers and her three aunts and their children, her playmates-cousins. Because of her fathers asthma, they had to move to Ajo, AZ and drier climate. There she graduated from grade school and started high school. In 1946 the family moved to Yuma, AZ and lived on the California side of the Colorado River where her dad worked at the siphon-drop power plant. She met her future husband there who lived next door. Elaine worked after school and on Saturdays at Sears to buy clothes. It seemed that while she was growing up, her family was always poor and didn't even have any furniture except for the bare necessities. She graduated from high school in 1949 and worked as a bank teller. She married Charles Reese Jr., known as Nick and later Chuck to his family. They lived in Portales, NM and then back to Yuma, AZ when their first child was born (Charles N. Reese III) in 1952. About 1955 they moved to southern California where their second child, Linda, was born. In 1962 the family moved to Las Vegas, NV where Chuck built freeway bridges. In 1978 Chuck and Elaine moved to Northern Nevada. In 1986 Elaine had a heart attack and she underwent successful angioplasty surgery. They lived in Elko for a year then moved to Winnemucca, NV. Elaine was quite artistic and enjoyed oil painting and all sorts of other crafts and creative activities. She was a strong Christian and was very active in their local church where she has lead women's bible studies. Elaine and her husband helped to start a new church in Winnemucca, Winnemucca Christian Fellowship. Chuck and Elaine moved to Littleton Colorado in 1996. Elaine died unexpectedly from complications of and from emergency heart surgery after undergoing another angioplasty. |
